"Tinned Wall/Dark Matter" was disassembled in October 1997, as pictured above. Its fruitcake contents were removed to The Djerassi Foundation in Woodside, California and re-stacked in the form of a serpentine wall in a field there. The piece was sited on a hillside that sloped at the rate of the height of the wall over its length. The "bricks" were stacked in a narrow level trench, so that the resulting fruitcake wall was completely underground at one end, and completely visible at the other.

The fruitcakes were left exposed to the elements and the local wildlife.
